Hidden Treasures of Downtown Breaux Bridge

December 01, 2017

Breaux Bridge, the Crawfish Capital of the World, is a small city in St. Martin Parish about 20 minutes outside of Lafayette, LA. Downtown Breaux Bridge makes for a great day out or weekend getaway with all of the hidden treasures it has to offer.

If you enjoy antique shopping, Breaux Bridge is the place for you! The downtown area has over half a dozen antique shops within less than half a mile from one another, and most of them have multiple vendors within each. Langniappe Antique on Bridge St. actually has over 70 vendors within its warehouse!

Along with the many antique shops in Breaux Bridge, there are also great places to find locally handmade arts and crafts, such as Artique and Breaux Bridge Souvenirs, Gifts, & Treasures.

Downtown Breaux Bridge is also the place to find the famous Zydeco Breakfast. Although it is no longer held at Café des Amis, the party must go on! Buck & Jonny’s now hosts the Zydeco Breakfast every Saturday morning from 8 to 11:30 AM. For a schedule of the upcoming musical guests, click here!

If you are looking to stay a night or two in Breaux Bridge, book a room at Bayou Teche Bed and Breakfast. It is a beautifully restored Acadian home right on the bank of bayou that features true Cajun hospitality.

Breaux Bridge is also full of history and great food! If you are interested in learning about Breaux Bridge’s history, visiting most of the aforementioned places, and sampling delicious food, consider taking Cajun Food Tours’ Walking Breaux Bridge Food Tour offered every Saturday!
